Faith Film Fest 2: AI Takes On ‘The Bear’
We've just wrapped the second edition of faith Film Fest, our agency-wide competition challenging colleagues to write, shoot and edit a short film using the latest Google AI tools, including Nano Banana, Veo and Lyria.
This year's brief asked entrants to bring “The Bear” to life: our shorthand for the looming obstacle or stubborn convention that they battle every day. Interpretations ranged from epic cinematic showdowns to weirdly funny takes on agency life.
We launched the annual competition at the end of March with an official brief and briefing session, followed by a series of hands-on training sessions to help colleagues get to grips with the tools. We received entries from across VCCP’s offices and capabilities, with film styles including claymation, comic book, photo-real and CGI, produced by everyone from Account and Resource Managers, through to our Creative & Production teams.
Two of our own colleagues from VCCP Prague made the Top 10: Ondřej Mencl, Editor & Motion Designer, scored 2nd place, while Dušan Čežek, Design Director, placed 6th. Watch their submissions below!
The films were judged by our team of experts, alongside special guest judges Dyana Najdi and Dan Germain from Google. Across all entries, the judges were impressed by how the entrants had used AI to enhance their creativity, and by how many participants had used the film fest as an opportunity to showcase skills outside of their normal agency role.
"Seeing that human core augmented through the power of AI’s ability to bring a vision to life through the lens of the creator is truly incredible."
Dyana Najdi, Managing Director at Google
Ten finalists went through to our Big Screen Showcase, held at TownHall, where we screened the films before crowning Paul Hunt from our PR division VCCP Roar this year’s winner.
