O2 Think Big

Background

This year we have run a campaign for O2 Think Big to recruit more Young People with great ideas into the programme and celebrate some of the current projects.

The recruitment part of the campaign was executed online and used a classic rug pull to entice our young audience in and then deliver our message. It’s big challenge to avoid being wallpaper or a preacher. You can check out the ads on the following links:

The celebration part of the campaign was executed in the cinema where people are very engaged. The work is 4 different 60 second spots which celebrate 4 different young people and their Think Big projects.

These young people have achieved some incredible things which are explained in more detail below.  The hope is that we can inspire other young people to submit projects they are thinking of or working on in their local communities. Alternatively be the catalyst for someone to encourage a friend or family member to get involved. Working with these young people has been extremely rewarding.

The young people whose stories we have celebrated are:

Marie Perrymann - The Homework Club: Marie has lived her entire life on a council estate in South London and has recognised the importance of giving the children in the community a space to have some fun and more importantly come and do their homework. With the support of Think Big she has provided them with this space to do their homework and helps them get it done. Having been there the kids have an absolutely brilliant time and they actually do their homework! You can check out her video above.

Danny Barlett - Hands up Who's Bored?: Danny was kicked out of school as a young man and was generally on a downward spiral. He turned all of this around and got himself a degree and is incredibly passionate about politics.  His passion has led him to creating a workshop for young people where he educates and inspires them about the importance of politics in the hope that when their time comes to vote they may just take it a bit more seriously.  Danny is an amazing guy and his passion really comes out in his film so take a look above.

Adam Fouracre - Stand Up Against Violence: Adam’s brother was killed in a mindless street violence attack.  Adam is a determined young man who wants to educate young people on the needlessness of violence and help stamp out such behaviour by making young people recognise the consequence of their actions. He does this through a workshop which he takes up and down the UK schools. Check out Adam’s project above.

James McNaughton - Homelessness & The Arts: James lives in Newcastle and was homeless from the age of 16 for over 2 years. James has managed to turn his life around but the experiences he had from being homeless have changed him forever. Whilst homeless he realised how much creativity there was out there in the community of rough sleepers.  Through the support of Think Big James has set up a project to curate and display art created by homeless people to give them a voice.  Check out James’ project above.
