‘Sounds like a job for British Gas’
Our new integrated campaign for British Gas is designed to remind people across the UK that its expert engineers cover far more than just energy supply.
Created in partnership with media agency OMD, ‘Sounds like a job for British Gas’ positions the brand as a complete home services provider for heating, plumbing, and electrics. The campaign arrives right before the annual winter boiler switch-on, introducing a new ‘No Fix, No Fee’ proposition for boiler repairs alongside a same-day call-out promise for bookings made before 11am.
The campaign is built around the insight that around 512,000 boiler repairs are needed every year in the UK, yet 64% of households default to a local tradesperson when problems pop up. To shift perceptions and encourage more people to consider British Gas when they need home repairs, the campaign leans into a universal reality: when something breaks in the home, everyday life stalls.
The central campaign film dramatises a hectic Monday morning in The Things household thrown into chaos when a broken boiler leaves teenager Thing, Ash, with an ice-cold shower, prompting her father to quickly book a same-day repair through the British Gas app.
Directed by thirtytwo via Anonymous Content, the production was delivered in collaboration with our global content creation studio Girl&Bear, who also produced the accompanying OOH, social, and radio assets.
In addition to traditional media channels, the rollout takes an intent-led search approach. When householders look up specific problem terms like "radiators cold" or "flickering lights," British Gas serves practical guidance content fronted by real engineers, giving people the choice to fix minor issues themselves or book an expert directly.
“Our engineers are our superpower, and this campaign is about showing the nation what they do brilliantly every day. In fact, we’ve already had one million customers rate their British Gas engineer 10 out of 10 this year. That’s an incredible achievement and something we should all be proud of. When we combine that expertise with propositions that genuinely matter to customers, we give people more reasons to choose us, more reasons to stay with us, and more reasons to tell others about us. That’s how we build a stronger brand and, ultimately, a stronger business.”
Samantha Taylor, Marketing Director at British Gas
“A broken boiler or a leaking pipe doesn't just disrupt your morning - it brings your life to a standstill. One ice-cold shower and suddenly your whole world is turned upside down. This campaign captures that domestic chaos with love and warmth, showing how British Gas engineers step in with steady reassurance and a no-nonsense 'No Fix, No Pay' promise to put everything right.”
