We’ve launched Tailored to Fly, a documentary marking Cathay Pacific’s 80th anniversary. The film traces the evolution of Cathay's uniforms, using fashion as a lens to tell a broader story of service, pride and identity.
Spanning eight decades, each new Cathay uniform reflected its moment in time, from Pierre Balmain’s sharp tailoring to Eddie Lau’s contemporary Asian elegance. More than a marker of the airline’s visual identity, Cathay Pacific's uniform has evolved alongside changing tastes, attitudes and the world around it.
Through personal stories and shared memories, viewers get to explore how the uniform came to represent something deeper for the Cathay crew: a sense of professionalism, composure and pride, shaped by the care they bring to the role every day.
By weaving together design history and lived experience, the film reveals how Cathay’s signature look has become inseparable from the service it represents. What emerges is not simply a story about how an airline has dressed over the years, but about how a standard of care has been carried forward, worn with quiet confidence across generations.
Having met and talked to many Cathay crew members during the filming, I’m just incredibly proud we’ve been able to tell this fascinating story and highlight the passion and care Cathay Pacific crew members wear proudly every day. Anh Nguyen, Creative Group Head of GOVT VCCP
