People who symbolise what good healthcare communications is all about: passion that makes a difference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is no surprise to us that Lesley won. \u200b\u200bAs a first generation Black British woman, she has experienced racial inequality and has felt unseen and unheard, both in the healthcare arena and in the advertising industry. The events of 2020 gave Lesley the courage to speak up and drive change within VCCP.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She believes that D&amp;I is everyone\u2019s responsibility and has found ways to engage us all in the conversation; setting up a book club, running a survey to assess the views and experiences of our team, and working with senior management to define our D&amp;I strategy. She has also<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketingsociety.com\/think-piece\/what-does-di-2021-look-adland\"> contributed to articles<\/a> to raise the profile of D&amp;I in the marketing industry. Lesley also organised and chaired Celebrate Black, an event that gave a platform to spoken word artists from underrepresented backgrounds and helped the agency embrace and celebrate diversity.<\/span><\/p>        \r\n                \r\n  \t\t\t      <\/div>\r\n      \r\n      <div class=\"col-md-6\">\r\n    \t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lesley works tirelessly to educate and inspire our team and helps VCCP Health become an agency that creates stronger, more authentic and representative healthcare communications. With her drive and passion, Lesley has spearheaded the formation of VCCP Health D&amp;I team and our internal D&amp;I campaign \u2013 resulting in winning Gold at the PMs for D&amp;I in internal communication.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Formed as part of VCCP\u2019s D&amp;I Collective, The VCCP Health D&amp;I team\u2019s campaign <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">[Hyperlink D&amp;I video]<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to champion diversity and change the way we work has already had a remarkable impact. The campaign includes many different angles and approaches that combined to drive tangible change in our agency. Every week, the D&amp;I team gets everyone thinking and motivates us to re-evaluate our current way of working. In the Pharma category alone, there were between 500-600 entries, with only 42 entries making the shortlist. In the end, only three Golds were awarded. \\u2018Hairspray\\u2019 for Teva picked up one of these Golds in the Consumer category, and a Silver in Disease Awareness. This heart valve can be liberating for patients, allowing them to enjoy many more active years and offering a new lease of life. So being able to bring it into the public awareness through something as big as the Cannes awards is fantastic.\\u201d\\u003c\\\/span\\u003e\\u003c\\\/i\\u003e\\u003c\\\/p\\u003e\\n\\u003cp\\u003e\\u003cspan style=\\u0022font-weight: 400\\u0022\\u003eFor background, The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is the largest and most prestigious annual event for creative advertising and communications. Lions Health was launched in 2014 to celebrate life-changing creativity in the wellness and pharmaceutical sectors and in recognition of the work coming out of this sector that navigates its own unique challenges in getting produced.\\u00a0\\u003c\\\/span\\u003e\\u003c\\\/p\\u003e\\n\\u003cp\\u003e\\u003cspan style=\\u0022font-weight: 400\\u0022\\u003eHowever, making work that meets the criteria of the Lions Health judges is no mean feat. We asked Noa more about how they got to the end result. She explained that her team was tasked with raising awareness of the challenges that carers face every day. And to do so in a way that spoke to caregivers themselves and the general public. They had to find the right story to tell to do this and a lot of the hard work went into preparing before the creative process even began, talking to caregivers and crafting the right brief for their business objective.\\u003c\\\/span\\u003e\\u003ci\\u003e\\u003cspan style=\\u0022font-weight: 400\\u0022\\u003e \\u201cIt was not a short process\\u201d \\u003c\\\/span\\u003e\\u003c\\\/i\\u003e\\u003cspan style=\\u0022font-weight: 400\\u0022\\u003eNoa laughed.\\u003c\\\/span\\u003e\\u003ci\\u003e\\u003cspan style=\\u0022font-weight: 400\\u0022\\u003e \\u201cWe relied on a lot of research. First quantitative research, to get an idea of the scale of our audience \\u2013\\u00a0which was vast. Then we moved on to qualitative, where we really began to understand the personal challenges and emotions that were at play. We shared our research to get buy in and then set about preparing a brief.\\u201d\\u003c\\\/span\\u003e\\u003c\\\/i\\u003e\\u003c\\\/p\\u003e\",\"text-right\":\"\\u003cp\\u003e\\u003cspan style=\\u0022font-weight: 400\\u0022\\u003eThe brief was then shared with VCCP Health, who spent time understanding both the challenge and the human heart of the brief through many conversations with Teva, as well as their own research.
