New Campaign Launches for the Return of House

Following the huge success of the first two series of House, for which Hugh Laurie won best actor in this year's Golden Globe awards, Five is launching a cross channel TV, poster, press and online campaign to support the return of the medical genius to Five. House will be launching as part of a Thursday night drama double bill, alongside new legal drama Shark, a co-production between Five and Fox, which is a massive hit in the US this season and features James Woods as district attorney Sebastian Stark.

The press and poster campaign for House, which was developed by VCCP, focuses on the good and evil elements of the hero's genius, hinting at the appalling bedside manner and mood swings that go hand-in-hand with his talent as a doctor. The execution features a close-up of the doctor's head on its side with the tagline 'Genius has side effects'.

The print campaign for Shark, also developed by VCCP, focuses on the lethal side to Stark's character, as a life-changing moment forces him to swap over onto the right side of the law. However, he takes his suspect morals and tactics with him. The execution features Stark and describes the new series as a 'lethal legal drama'.

The TV campaign features memorable moments from both House and Shark, which illustrate the genius and lethal self-confidence of the two heroes, thereby drawing a parallel between them.

Simon Downing, Head of Marketing at Five, said: "House pulls in a wide audience to secure some of the highest ratings for Five. The third series delves into more fascinating medical cases for the maverick anti-social doctor to solve and as the series progresses the viewer learns more and more about this intriguing character."

The print campaign for House features photography by Mitch Jenkins, and the joint TV campaign was produced by Ben Knapp of Five's on-air creative team. Media was planned and bought by Vizeum.

The campaign breaks w/c12th March. The third series of House airs on Thursday 22nd March at 9pm, and will be followed by Shark at 10pm.
